As the title suggests.... I had some general RC parts lying
around, a ducted fan with motor, speed controller, servos and
some radio gear. So I strapped them all together, literarily!
The first iteration of what is now Jet Car was created in July
2008; the vehicle platform was an RC toy land rover, not any
sort of serious RC car. As you can see in the images below it
was an odd fit, the whole structure was very imbalanced, a high
CG made it prone to topple and a lack of suspension and tiny
wheels also made it topple. I then left it for a few months as
I knew I could not go on with such a bad car base, so when I
came across an old Mardave racing RC chassis on the internet I
bought it. The newer configuration is much better and more
stable than the older one; the next task is to do some outdoor
runs to test its speed.
Jet Car has
been reopened and made into a fully fledged project (as
opposed to a sideline) on HUSSTECH because there are
plans to add a variable nozzle to the ducted fan
unit.
